C. Schöll, this bug report is being closed due to your last comment regarding
the original issue being fixed with an update to Oneiric. Regarding the new bug
that appeared, "re-enable the top ones", could you please file a new report by
executing the following via the Terminal:
ubuntu-bug audio
I confirm, i have the same problem with my speakers. Alsamixer does
nothing for me, but i am not very adept at linux, so there is probably a
lot of things i havent tried...

I did the update to Oneiric while still Beta, but recently I noticed that the
behavior has changed (Perhaps this is since the upgrade):
The bottom ones are active when not plugged in. If plugged in, none is active
(which is correct).
So now I only need to know how to re-enable the top ones, whic

The "PCM" solution doesn't work, it switches of everything. (Jack/Top + Bottom)
I had plugged in something to see if the internal ones would mute, but i forgot
to check if the external ones changed.

I found out some rather interesting things playing around with the ALSAmixer, a
friend just showed it to me:
I can controll the loudspeakers on the top and the TRS-audio-jack through
"Headphone",
and the bottom ones through "PCM" (whatever that is).
This kind of solves the problem, though this sh

I already found a (strange) workaround: Plugging in something into the
microphone-jack turns off the other two loudspeakers.
This points IMHO to a software bug and not only a strange hardware arrangement.
I don't know where to find a sound-log so I couldn't check if it says something
about it.
