Hi
I updated from 10.10 to 11.04 Kubuntu and while automatic updating it was
progressing the message came that fglrx could not be installed. I hopped
over that error and continued. The update process was not succesful.
Before I installed the latest fixes. i used ethernet and connection was up.

Just to clarify, when you tried to install fglrx,
You were connected to the internet via ethernet wired or wireless connection. ?
and have ran system update and your system has the latest fixes
