Thanks for confirming. In the future, you may consider a tool called

Yes - the duplicate ticket #770059 I found mentioned it. It was not easy
but i eventually managed to get apt-get dist-upgrade to not complain
while having natty in sources.list by uninstalling xorg from linux
console. And then do-release-upgrade completed.
Didn't find any other easy way to remove/
Mog, it seems your problem stems from unofficial packages installed through
PPA's.

Below is my current output of apt-get dist-upgrade after do-release-upgrade
failed.
I manually installed latest upstart but it made no difference.
morgan@morgan2:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package
I got the same issue. My lsb_release output is:
