For what it's worth.. RabbitMQ 2.7.0 is available as a .deb file from
rabbitmq.com's own repository, and these days it includes the STOMP (and
other) plugins, just waiting to be enabled.
This works on Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10

It seems the bug is that Ubuntu's version of Erlang is too old to
contain the required function.
