Public bug reported: Binary package hint: software-center
Using Software-center daily build 4.1.5~bzr1825~natty1 on Natty Steps to reproduce 1) Go to the XChat-GNOME IRC Chat details page -> the XChat-GNOME Indicator plugin is listed as an addon 2) Check the plugin checkbox -> the Apply changes header appears 3) Click the Install button of the application (not the Apply changes) What happens: The Apply changes header stays visible and when the installation has finished, and I click Apply changes, I get an error dialog about nothing to install What should happen: Either the Install should only install the application or (and I would prefer this to minimize number of mouse clicks required) when clicking the Install button and the Addons changed header is visible, it should be set to invisible, as Install also installs the Addons selected, so there will be no need to Apply the changes. Thinking further, until the application is not Installed, there's no need for the Addon changes header, as changes will be applied by clicking Install, so the Addon changes should appear only if the application is installed and there is a change in one of the addons checkboxes. ** Affects: software-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: software-center Using Software-center daily build 4.1.5~bzr1825~natty1 on Natty Steps to reproduce 1) Go to the XChat-GNOME IRC Chat details page -> the XChat-GNOME Indicator plugin is listed as an addon 2) Check the plugin checkbox -> the Apply changes header appears 3) Click the Install button of the application (not the Apply changes) What happens: - The Apply changes header stays visible and when the installation has finished, and I click Apply changes, I get an error dialog about nothing to install + The Apply changes header stays visible and when the installation has finished, and I click Apply changes, I get an error dialog about nothing to install What should happen: Either the Install should only install the application or (and I would prefer this to minimize number of mouse clicks required) when clicking the Install button and the Addons changed header is visible, it should be set to invisible, as Install also installs the Addons selected, so there will be no need to Apply the changes. + + Thinking further, until the application is not Installed, there's no + need for the Addon changes header, as changes will be applied by + clicking Install, so the Addon changes should appear only if the + application is installed and there is a change in one of the addons + checkboxes. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/792243 Title: error after trying to apply addon changes on installed application -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
