Umlauts missing in several Gnome
There are several issues with gdm3 in Ubuntu, one of which has to do
with the locale. Please try using a different login screen: lightdm is
currently the default for 11.10. Also, the correct way to fix Gnome 3
PPA bugs now is to fix them in Oneiric since the Oneiric packages are
getting downsynced
