This might help, I attached strace to the stucked process and I can see
its in the loop trying to access some resource (attaching)

Same problem here. I tried going from avi/Xvid to NTSC at 16:9 aspect ratio,
also tried the same thing already converted to mpeg/NTSC at the same aspect
ratio. Freezes at about 95 of 3240 MB for me.
Using Ubuntu 12.10, 64 bit.

I have the same problem: brasero freezes with "converting video file to mpeg2"
(Ubuntu 12.04, 32 bit).
Is somebody working on the bug? Do you need more details?

I have this problem, too. My project stops at 890 MiB of 4258 MiB. I'm
using Precise. Are the bug-fixers still waiting for any information

Attaching the log file. Maybe it is of use to someone. I can't obtain anything
useful from it...
P.S. I probably stopped the process to early. So the error message doesn't show
up at the end of the file...

Just for the record: Starting Brasero from a terminal with
brasero -g
gives debug output. For me the problem is:

I'm facing the same issue. The point where the conversion of the MPEG-4
video stops is not always the same. Tried also on another machine with
Ubuntu 10.04 and Brasero 2.30.2. There this error did not occur.

Yes, I'm getting the exact same thing. Mine hangs at 24mb every single
time. With both .mkv and .mpg2. I am trying to convert it to NTSC,
16:9 and have tried almost every other NTSC combination with no success.
This is with i386, HELP!
