Public bug reported: Binary package hint: sound-juicer
sound-juicer fails to find this CD : http://www.musicbrainz.org/release/c18028a8-178c-4c36-a46c-6483a4acab73 All the track lengths match except on my CD track 4 is 1 second shorter than MusicBrainz and track 10 is 1 second longer. I could suggest a couple of alternative enhancements to solve this : either a: allow the user to input a MusicBrainz URL or b: add some tolerances to the search (e.g. rank the results by the total seconds discrepancy). The advantages of each : a: Completely general - allows the user to search on MusicBrainz by Genre / Artist / Label etc. (even if b included fuzzy logic or AI, it would not be as effective as the user's own search ability). Much easier to implement than b. Can handle bonus tracks etc (user can add supplementary info). b: less effort for the user. $ apt-cache policy sound-juicer sound-juicer: Installed: 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 2.31.6-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 ** Affects: sound-juicer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/793365 Title: RFE: sound-juicer requires all track lengths to match and cannot input URL -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
