Unfortunately I don't know the thread anymore.
Since the keycodes for the basic multimedia keys are the same among all
keyboards AFAIK (else they wouldn't work with the standard driver in windows)
it's no matter whether it's an USB or PS/2 keyboard.

Could you please point to the thread if you know such? Are we talking by
the way about USB keyboard? In that case it should be more or less
trivial to get such keyboard auto-detected and the correct bindings to
keycodes added.

There's already a thread about supporting the "forward" and "back" mouse
buttons by changing the default xorg.conf, this also applies to this thread.
