Hi,
Is it still reproducible on recent ubuntu releases?
Can you run "gvfs-mount -o" in a terminal before inserting the device and see
if there's as well a flood of "Volume added" events?

I think the problem is related to how the drive is recognized. In Ubuntu Natty,
nautilus recognizes U3 drives as "software " and freezes all system trying to
open it. I suggest that the U3 software is not recognized and just is treated
as a single USB Flash as it makes the whole system unusable.
Thanks for reporting this bug and any supporting documentation. Since
this bug has enough information provided for a developer to begin work,
I'm going to mark it as confirmed and let them handle it from here.
I can confirm this issue using USB drives in Xubuntu. It appears to be
