After trying the upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 I did not see this behavior. I
had both firefox and chrome installed before the upgrade as you said. After
the upgrade, firefox was still my default browser as expected. It may have
been a local error. It would be good if you could test it again,

Sorry for the delay. You are correct. That is how it 'should' work. I will
test this on my machine and report back with results soon. One question before
I do though, Did you have both Firefox AND Chrome installed on your machine
BEFORE trying the update? Thanks.
