By relying on a saved search this invalidates the purpose of having a filter in
the first place.
It means that you would have to create a new search to view any event without
showing all that events raw photos too.
What you have suggested is a work-around that does not achieve the desired
effect
In Shotwell 0.10:
Ctrl+S to create a new Saved Search
Enter a name for the search (i.e. "Non-RAW photos")
Change the search to "Media" "is not" "a raw photo"
Hit OK
Now your new saved search appears in the sidebar, and shows all non-raw
photos in your library.
