Turning back to bug report so can change papercut status as this is
still appearing as new bug. Also this was a bug not a question as the
default (the dir set after installation of libreoffice) export directory
was inside a hidden folder. This now appears to be fixed in the latest
package however :

Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but
Acutally, $HOME/$DOCUMENTS would make more sense (or whatever the
correct representation of localized Documents folder in the ~ dir would
be).
