I don't get the initial problem anymore. The output device list is now high
enough to show one device entirely.

capplet is the short form for 'configuration applet' I don't know if it
is still used in gnome 3 though.

not sure about capplet, it's something along the line of control-center
applet, i.e the graphical dialogs in the control-center
upstream is asking if you still get the issue and to try without the
scrollbar patch, I tried on a stock gtk 3.1.8 and it behaves the same
way, I've approximatively enoug
