Just to clarify, any time I move the cursor across the screen, the
system freezes about 100ms, and this happens once per second. This
does not happen if I am not moving the cursor.

I installed all updates and even installed natty kernel 2.6.39, but the
issue persisted. Then I gave up, sat down and watched some tv episodes,
and my computer is mysteriously not producing this behavior anymore...
odd. If it comes back, I'll reopen.
