Public bug reported: I wish I could provide more details, but alas, I am just a lowly beginner in the world of Ubuntu, and wouldn't know how to begin to describe the problem! I just installed, then went to the Software Centre, tried to install ubuntu restricted extras, and received this error. I noticed that Update Manager had opened so I thought, "perhaps there is an update it needs, first." Though, I did think this rather unlikely. Unfortunately, the same error occurred when trying to install the updates as well :(
