What videocard do you use? Do you have any error if you run totem-video-
thumbnailer from a command line?

I'm working with a current feisty and the latest totem, I think thats
2.17.5-0ubuntu2. This happens to all videos that totem tries to
thumbnail, irreguardless of format.

I have the same problem. I upgraded from edgy to feisty two days ago.
All thumbnails created prior to the upgrade are normal. All thumbnails
created after have a blue overlay. This seems to happen to all video
formats.
