I built the ppa from the precise version 0.7.4 which should be taken
from debian 0.7.4 based on Lazarus release.
I backported the patch to Maverick + releases.
I just would like to know if the package could be backported to oneiric at
least (I want to ask a SRU for it)

I just manage here on launchpad to make things work and sometimes foward
patches upstream, I'm LocutusOfBorg
So according to Eric this bug is fixed in ettercap 0.7.4.2-1 available
for testing in universe/net (ubuntu oneiric development branch).
Please test it and set again status to confirmed if the bug isn't fixed
