i think herd 5 didnt correct the problem, it got resolved later. the
current feisty does not have that problem, as reported by multiple
users. but herd 5 has it. wait for the next developer version of feisty
to test again

Yes, the fix was put in around 7th of March, so it will be included in
the next Thursday's 7.04 Beta.

This is a pretty common issue.
There are basically two solutions.
1) Install with the alternate cd boot in recovery mode install
proprietary drivers via command line. (This is how I solved it for me)
2) Edit xorg.conf: Option MonitorLayout
