well, the problem is not that repacked images do not work but that
kernel panics when accessing such repacked image.
EIhter way, linux 2.6 is obsolete by now and hopefully future kernels do
not have such bug.

linux panics when squashfs image created by older squashfs tools is

I tried putting such squashfs on a CD and while running find on
/media/disk would bring the system down just inserting the CD would not
with default Ubuntu installation.
