thank you for your bug report, could log to a vt and see if you have
stalling .ICEauthority or .Xauthority in your user dir? Does clean those
fix the issue? Seems similar to bug #823718

Not sure what stalling means, but I rm'd .Xauthority (there's also a
.ICEauthority file which I didn't touch), and now I can login like
normal again. Why would this kill lightdm?
