oh! sorry. I've seen that duplicate before posting here, but I thought
it was something different, because of DapperEdgy upgrade (since Dapper
stores the profiles somewhere completely else, doesn't it?)

Just had the same problem.
A friend of mine gave me a call, saying I've lost all my network profiles.
Please help!. It took me almost 1 hour to figure out what went wrong, since
all previous profiles are

Ok, it might be the same problem, but this bug is introduced in the
latest edgy-updates, it is different from the bug that was introduced
updating from dapper to edgy.

stored to different user directory

No, it is no duplicate of bug #67201. This one occured (I believe) after
updating gnome-system-tools from edgy to edgy-updates.
