xine core dumps on startup - Floating point exception
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/82547
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu
Bugs, which
It seems to be a bug in the fglrx driver provided by Ubuntu.
I've downloaded the actual fglrx driver form the AMD Homepage, version 8.47.3
and installed it.
Now xine works fine and refreshrates over 60Hz are also possible.

Ditto with Ubuntu 7.10 and fglrx drivers (ATI Radeon 9600). Tried both xine.lib
from Gutsy repo and 1.1.8 compiled from source.

Coming late to the party, and problem not telling you anything you don't
already know, but...
I'm using Debian Etch, and had the same problem. If I switch back to
the using the generic ati driver for xorg, however, DVD video plays
fine. If I switch to the fglx proprietary drivers,
I compiled libxine 1.1.4 from source and got the same thing, so it seems
like the bug is in libxine itself and not a bug introduced in the Ubuntu
package.

I tried installing xine-lib from feisty, but get the exact same thing.
I'm going to try reinstalling with an actual edgy CD rather than
upgrading from my dapper CD just to make sure it's just not something
wrong with my installation.

I tried retracing your crash file with apport-retrace. unfortunately, I
couldn't get any useful information. any chance you could try xine-lib
1.1.4 from feisty?
