I ended up installing mythbuntu 7.10 from scratch (using there build cd)
and mythtv works well, but it's not using the NVIDIA driver so GL is
very slow, had to use QT instead.

Same thing here, no problems at all before i upgraded to Gutsy from
Fiesty. I've tried with and without the restricted driver manger, even
tried using ENVY to install the nvida drivers in gutsy (works well for
fiesty). and tried with and without "compiz", all have same problem.

Same problem here: nVidia GeForce 6100 on-board graphics card. Problem
occurs whether using 'new' nvidia drivers or not.

I have the same problem. I get kicked back to the gdm login screen when
I try to watch a recorded mythtv show or live tv.

I'm wondering if it is related to the opengl rendering ?

This occurs with the standard mythtv-frontend under Feisty Beta 1. You
can still see the Gnome toolbars on top of the mythtv menus.
