Well, I ditched Fedora (spiting my IT department) and installed Ubuntu (Feisty beta), over the quite superfluous Windows partition. No surprise, WiFi now works, as well as several other annoyances from Fedora being eradicated. I guess displaying similar values for signal and noise is just a quirk
