Public bug reported: The Intel Network Card 82562V (Intel Corporation 82562V 10/100 Network Connection) is not recognized on Dell Dimension E520 by Ubuntu 6.06.
This card uses the Intel e1000 driver that did not seem to be loaded by kernel 2.6.15-26 shipped in xubuntu 6.06. Thought it can't configure the network, Xubuntu installation goes on until the end ! After loading explicitly the e1000 driver, the network still can't go up: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# /etc/init.d/networking start * Configuring network interfaces... This problem has already been mentionned in Ubuntu forums (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=276126) but apparently stays unsolved. Is there a way to get an updated driver from Intel ? I've found one but I'm not sure it's the right (http://www.intel.com/support/network/sb/cs-009209.htm) and moreover Xubuntu does not seem to install gcc properly. Thank you for you help.
