Verified in Trusty guest, via Trusty host with virtualbox. However, in the Trusty guest, it has a more drastic issue, in that attempting to switched over to Ctrl+Alt+F1 -> Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) vm tty1 vm login: *starting [OK] * Stopping Restore Sound Card State [OK] and stop

Looks like this would need fixed in the xserver patch 190_cache- xkbcomp_output_for_fast_start_up.patch It does check for write/open permissions on whatever the configured output directory is, but if it finds it doesn't have them it defaults to /tmp. :-P Perhaps OutputDirectory should be modifi
