Yes, an apt-get upgrade installed network-manager some time ago, but
this package does not seem to do anything except cause other desktop
components to stop functioning.
Perhaps network-manager should be removed from the distribution if it
cannot be made to work and only serves to break the rest

You are not forced to use an unstable distribution, bugs happen and are
fixed, we don't remove package every time somebody finds a bug or we
would not have many softwares that can be used. Comments like that one
are not useful, marking the duplicate
