[Vostro 3550] AR9285 unable to connect to wifi networks

The mistake was that the debian installer configured my
/etc/network/interfaces so that it only connects to the installer
network and nothing else (I installed ubuntu via wlan) ... network
manager does not like this setting.
By clearing it, now works fine.

Second, please attach output of `rfkill list`, `lspci -vvnn`, `lsmod`,
`dmesg` and `sudo iwlist wlan0 scanning`

When back and checked enablement bug reports, looks like you have to
reset the bios to defaults to get wireless working. After doing such, I
was able to connect to a wireless AP.

Hi Marc,
Do you have any way to verify this is not a hardware problem? I check
with oem-config and looks like the oem image shipped with maverick stock
kernel and everything works fine. Check with the ath9k bug reports on
launchpad, there are some reports says on natty the connection is not
Tried the Maverick livecd, still unable to connect to APs...though
rfkill does not show anything as blocked.

Hi Marc,
Its odd. Could you try maverick? Just boot into livecd and make sure
rfkill block are all off, then see if you can see APs.
If can, the root cause shall be between maverick and natty. If not,
possibly it is hardware issue.

I was planning to find out if there are few key patches from .39 kernel.
But seems not a good idea.
$ git log --format='%h %s' v2.6.38..v2.6.39 | grep ath9 | wc -l
115
$ git log --format='%h %s' v2.6.37..v2.6.38 | grep ath9 | wc -l
188
There are 188 patches between v2.6.37 to v2.6.38 and 115
Could you try to use oneiric or maverick image to test the same machine
please? Just want to make sure this is a natty issue.
