The mistake was that the debian installer configured my /etc/network/interfaces so that it only connects to the installer network and nothing else (I installed ubuntu via wlan) ... network manager does not like this setting. By clearing it, now works fine. -- You received this bug notification

Hi Marc, Do you have any way to verify this is not a hardware problem? I check with oem-config and looks like the oem image shipped with maverick stock kernel and everything works fine. Check with the ath9k bug reports on launchpad, there are some reports says on natty the connection is not

I tried to use oneiric/natty/lucid live image on anther Dell laptop with the same wifi component. 04:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) [168c:002b] (rev 01 but can not reproduce the issue. I can see APs and connect to them.
