I still notice the issue here, on a fully-updated HP Mini 110. Letting
the screen turn off by itself seems to be what triggers it; it will turn
back on from standby just fine. It also seems to go out if you plug in
an external display and try to switch screens.

I am experiencing this bug with my HP Compaq mini 110c-1101 netbook. I

Seems rather an xorg issue. Do you get the same issue if you use dpms to
turn off the screen? Could you add your Xorg.0.log after getting the
issue?

I encounter this on my HP Mini 1035NR as well, with the addition that
the screen turns back on when the computer sleeps and then wakes from
sleep mode. (For example, I have power manager set to sleep when the lid
is closed, so it's almost a reasonable workaround).
