Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open the sound menu (the speaker icon)
2) Click on the volume control slider handle

Upon clicking the volume control slider handle, the menu closes. When I
click on the sound menu again, its as if the mouse had been clicked and
held over the slider handle - in other words, I can click to open the
sound menu again and, without holding the mouse button down, moving the
mouse left or right adjusts the sound volume. Clicking anywhere removes
focus from the sound menu and closes it.

Occasionally, the sound menu after being reopened will completely steal
focus and render the entire interface unusable - the only thing I can do
is adjust the volume. It is impossible to close the sound menu.

The first case (i.e. the one that doesn't render the system unusable)
happens every single time I attempt to adjust the volume.

A similar bug that happens with the top menu bar that also happens,
though more sporadically, is 839126.
