thanks for suggestions.
I've just removed model=generic line and rebooted the system. Now
audio works again.
I think the problem has been fixed with last updates.
$ uname -a
Linux home 3.0.0-11-generic #18-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 13 23:29:47 UTC 2011 i686
i686 i386 GNU/Linux
$ apt-cache

However, it is difficult to find anything out of the information
currently, so could you please try the following:
1) Remove the model=generic line
2) https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/InstallingLinuxAlsaDriverModules
3) Reboot
4) Verify that sound is still
Just a question, is that all sound not working, or just the SPDIF out
not working?
