Hmm... i'm unable to reproduce this... at least with 13.0.0 . Please see if it's still the case when 13.0.0 propagates to Ubuntu. FWIW, play is no longer a shell script but a binary (play became a symlink to sox). -- play command doesn't use ALSA by default https://launchpad.net/bugs/84609 --
