I don't think this is worth looking at since it can be resolved via BIOS
settings.

Thanks for the additional information. It would also help us if we
could see the output of 'lspci -vv' and 'lspci -vvn' with the modem off
and on in the BIOS. Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem on a Lenovo 3000 C200(89224MG). It was the same
with Edgy/Feisty. Modem seems to be intertwined with the audio chip. For
me enabling modem fixed it.
