I confirm the bug on 8.10
After some time of normal work, appears
nfs: server 10.1.5.1 not responding, timed out
forced unmounting and mounting again works, but "not responding, timed
out" really freezes IO.

I'm using a Intel D945GCLF2 (Atom 330) motherboard with Ubuntu 8.10. In
this network is a Freenas server running. To mount the 2 drives
available in my Freenas server I added the following to /etc/fstab
192.168.1.250:/mnt/tvixhd1 /mnt/movies nfs rw 0 0
192.168.1.250:/mnt/tvixhd4 /mnt/audio nfs rw
same problem here.
Ubuntu 8.04
nfs-common 1:1.1.2-2ubuntu2.1
Linux miles 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 22:56:21 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux
the nfs-server is a debian etch box in my LAN:
Linux jaco 2.6.26-bpo.1-amd64 #1 SMP Tue Sep 2 09:38:17 UTC 2008 x86_64
GNU/Linux
nfs-common 1.0.10-6+etch
I am also affected by this issue.
And it causes the whole system to go haywire.
besides that; dmesg also prints out dozens of this message:
> wlan0: RX disassociation from 00:16:b6:d9:8a:8d (reason=7)
Don't know if its of any relevance.
