Public bug reported:

I installed Pidgin (protocol chat-client) after starting I went with my
mouse over the right top menu in Ubuntu 11.10. Suddently my shutdown
icon disappeared? Ever since I can't get that icon back in my menu. The
only solution was to hard restart Ubuntu 11.10.

Ps.
I'm using VirtualBox v4.1.2 with "Oracle VM VirtualBox Guest Addition for Linux 
Module" (video) ON.
