Thanks a lot for the fast response, and sorry for the delay in my answer
(holidays). I attached a console output from Debian's and Ubuntu's
installers, that shows that indeed xen-netfront is needed and loaded
(“Initialising Xen virtual ethernet driver”) in Debian but not in
Ubuntu. I also attache

Thanks for your report. Do you know what kernel module ought to be used
in this situation? The current images include the xen-netfront module,
which I would have thought was the relevant one.
