But the clamav-daemon script comes from the clamav-daemon package. Is
that fully installed?

Yes apt reports that clamav-base is already installed when I try to
install it again. It appears to me that something is wrong with the
install because the init script isn't there at all.

Clam AV not functioning on 0.90 update in feisty. Seems to have internal
log permission errors. ClamTK fails to find the ClamAV virus definitions
as well rendering it useless. freshcalm and other related programs
inherit the permission problems.

Looking into this further, there is no clamav-daemon start/stop script
in etc/init.d. I checked the dpkg log and dpkg claims clamav was fully
installed.
