Can you confirm what version of ubuntu you are using and what graphics
card & driver you are using?
Did you find that this was happening whilst using the livcd?

It happen with the i386 HERD 4 Ubuntu CD. I am using an NVIDIA but
think the bug happen while using VESA driver. And yes, it happen in
the installation process from the the live cd
