Hi Shirish,
The symbolic linking is not needed afaik. However you should restart the
font server you are using; or more easily just restart x11 or your
machine.

I hate to break but I don't get any output from "xlsfonts | grep terminus"
. Here are the things as they stand.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ aptitude search xfonts-terminus
i xfonts-terminus - Fixed-width fonts for
fast reading

The reconfigure in the comments above is wrong, you should reconfigure
the "fontconfig" package, and not its configuration (fontconfig-config).
So to be able to select freshly installed fonts issue the command:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig
Now you should be able to find your freshly install
This package is still broken.

This is in reply to Marco's question as to what applications don't work
with these fonts.

... just about any basic X application.
Also, "sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config" does not fix it.

ok same here. I had to first do the symbolic linking, then re-installed
the package no complains otherwise I get the error :-
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc does not exist or is not a directory.

Installing xfonts-terminus, KDE applications seem use this font without any
reconfiguration. A symbolic link is automatically created in
/usr/share/X11/fonts to /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc.
Please give additional information about applications that don't works with
this font.

I can confirm the bug. (also in gnome)
sudo ln -s /usr/share/X11/fonts /usr/lib/X11/fonts
sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config
Solves the problem, don't know if it's a correct solution.
