The reconfigure in the comments above is wrong, you should reconfigure the "fontconfig" package, and not its configuration (fontconfig-config). So to be able to select freshly installed fonts issue the command: sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig Now you should be able to find your freshly install

Installing xfonts-terminus, KDE applications seem use this font without any reconfiguration. A symbolic link is automatically created in /usr/share/X11/fonts to /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc. Please give additional information about applications that don't works with this font. Thanks in advance.
