I talked to darix (the maintainer of the 1.4 branch of lighttpd), and he
advised me not to apply the patch, but rather use mod_magnet. He

I tested that patch (and that it fixes the bug) with Dapper and
backported (rebuilt) lighttpd 1.4.13-9ubuntu1, but I’m sure it still
applies to Feisty’s lighttpd 1.4.13-9ubuntu2.
