FWIW, with all the latest updates, this is still happen half a dozen
times a day.

Does this just happen all of a sudden in front of your eyes? Can you
explain a little bit more about what happens when you experience this
bug, what you're doing, and anything else you can think of?

This does happen in front of my eyes.
I can't really pin-point what triggers it, it seems to happen at random (when
making windows full screen, alt+tabbing, etc).
I can tell you that it's the same outcome as when compiz crashes, only without
the (apparent) crash.
