"ALT + circumflex" can be set
The workaround *kinda* works. Here's how it did for me:
1. start ccsm
2. activate Ubuntu Unity Plugin -> Switcher -> Key to flip through the windows
in the switcher. You will find this option is deactivated. Binding it will not
unbind alt+circumflex right away
3. activate Application Switcher Plu
Workaround:
1. Install compizconfig-settings-manager
2. Run: ccsm
3. Explore the many options and remove/change the keyboard shortcuts that are
conflicting.

** Project changed: unity => compiz-core

Importance: U
Alt+Circumflex is used in Japanese IME for Windows to switch input mode.
Had IBUS in 10.04 configured to use the same keys for activating Anthy.
Having to relearn the keys has significant impact on productivity.
So please make the Unity keybinding configurable.

"ALT
This situation is very unfortunate for people using applications which
need Alt+^ because it cannot be switched off (as far as I can see). I
use Emacs, where Alt+^ is an important functionality. Besides, Alt+^ is
of little help on small keyboards with Fn key.
So please make the Unity keybinding
