Public bug reported: System: Lenovo Thinkpad Edge with AMD processor. Ubuntu 11.10 (64-bit) If jockey-gtk is used to install the proprietary Broadcom STA driver the BCM43224 Wifi card does not work.
Typing sudo lshw -C network shows that the bcma driver is used (rather than the wl driver) - this is why the card does not work. There is an easy fix by editing a conf file: sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf and add "blacklist bcma" Then reboot. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/873511 Title: Broadcom BCM43224 (0596) Wifi card not working out of box To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/873511/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
