thanks for the bug report. Can you please start 'Ubuntu 2D' session
there in a terminal type 'unity --reset' if unity now starts for you
logout and login to 'Ubuntu' session and let us know if the issue is
gone, playing with CCSM is dangerous :/

This is a reply I had when I first posted simply as "question"... maybe
it can help!
I also have the same problem...I already tried to reinstall ubuntu, but
when my damned finger went in the same menu happened exactly the same
thing! if this information can be of any help I can tell you it crashes
