Bill Murnane, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
I've formatted the disk and completely reinstalled 12.04 on this
machine and the problem has gone away and is no longer reproducible.
There must have been some configuration file on disk causing this.

I tested this with Precise Beta2 and it still exhibits the same problem.
I have never had a response to the 2 emails I sent to report this upstream,
so must assume it remains unreported there.

kernel.bugzilla.org is back in action. I added myself as a user and reported

to 2.6.38.8) , Pentium D processor, Intel D865PERL board with latest available

I emailed the maintainer of acpi soon after last post with no response
yet. As Bugzilla is not working, do you have any suggestion as to the
most effective way to report an upstream acpi kernel bug?

Yes, it appears that bugzilla.kernel.org is still unavailable. I added
the tag: kernel-needs-upstream-bug-report which will allow us to see
what bugs still need to be reported upstream when bugzilla.kernel.org is
back.

bugzilla.kernel.org 'ALWAYS' times out on me when I try to connect. Is
this the right URL?
I can submit a bug report to upstream, install whichever kernel they
need, and run any debugging trace info they require if I can get access
to the bug tracking system and info on their requirements.
If I
3.1.0-0301rc10-generic still fails on startup if nolapic. Added tag.

This issue appears to be an upstream bug, since you tested the latest
upstream kernel. Would it be possible for you to open an upstream bug
report at bugzilla.kernel.org? That will allow the upstream Developers
to examine the issue, and may provide a quicker resolution to the bug.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? It
will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the release
candidate kernel versus the daily build. Once you've tested the
upstream kernel,
