Some icons are available only in gnome-icon-theme-full. Bug 877451 is
about moving those icons to default installation of gnome-icon-theme.

I figured out why the guest session doesn't have icons. I noticed in the
Configuration Editor that I have
desktop/gnome/interface/menu_items_have_icons set to true, but in
the guest session this is set to false. Even when I set this to true
in the guest session, it still doesn't show any icons.
# No I did not change any settings to display icons in menus. It just broke
after upgrade to oneiric.
# Guest session: the guest session does not have any icons. I can't find any
option in the preferences to enable it, so I don't remember how I enabled it in
my session. I must have somehow
