Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 11.10 x64, aptitude's GUI shows most packages "twice", while actually on entry represents the x64 and one the IA32 architecture package. There's no indication in the package list which is which, however, which makes software administration much more confusing than necessary...
Additionally, aptitude itself sometimes even seems to become confused because of "duplicate" packages during dependency resolution which makes aptitude hardly usable at all to resolve conflicts, but I'll report a separate bug about this as soon as it happens again.
