There seems to be no option in the preferences for the Nautilus file
browser GUI (that I could find) to permit this.
Please be so kind as to advise how to retore that setting to enable
drive icon display on the desktop, keeping in mind that I varey seldom
use the command line inte
not a bug in unity. Thats a nautilus setting that you might want to re-
activate from dconf.

That response makes no sense as the desktop display of inserted / newly
mounted drives was available under the Unity GUI for Ubuntu 11.04.
This is a massive oversight that needs rectifying at once to restore
essential functionality and usability.
With release 11.10, Ubuntu no longer provides the
