Public bug reported:

There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it, but ever so often the
screen will freeze on me.  I then have to restart the system, but upon
restart it freezes on a purple screen.  Then, I have restart again.  It
then asks me if I want to start ubuntu in original mode or recovery
mode.  I use ubuntu 11.10 (installed on 10/20/11).  I'm not able to
locate the package name that I'm using, so I apologize.
